Smokers Naming Rights

View from the Top Deck of a Routemaster Replacement

In the past they used to build grand memorial monuments to society's greats, and such a memorial is located in Tooley Street, Bermondsey SE1.

I have frequently passed this memorial unaware of its significance, but the necessity of having to catch a bus on the South side of Tower Bridge led me to investigate further.

The memorial is to Ernest Bevin a Giant of a man in all ways.

Ernest's memorial plaque reads:-

-- Ernest Bevin a forceful and inspiring of democratic principals.

-- He gained a place in men's hearts few could equal

A glowing testament to a pivotal character in our not so distant past and a man described as an English patriot and ----- smoker.

What would Ernest make of the Hard working Smoking staff of Southwark Council being denied shelter and banished in all weathers to Potters Fields yards from his memorial for an enjoyable legal smoke?.

Unlike yesteryear today's politicians are engrossed in social engineering, riding roughshod over the public. Politicians never admit that they have made a mistake are selective on Human rights and grossly fund the social engineering project that is the smoking ban -----.

How have we allowed this to happen? ------ What of the future? ------ What of the democratic principles attributed to Ernest? ------ How can we mark this smoking nadir for future generations and forewarn that a few zealots empowered with a bottomless pit of cash have been engaged to hoodwink the public.

------I am suggesting a monument, located just a short ride away on the number 78 bus outside Ash's offices at 144 - 145 Shoreditch High Street E1 6JE.

I have commissioned a friend to produce an artistic impression of the visual appearance (left), ------ thank you Zimbabwe 52.

All that is needed is for readers to Name individuals or organisations that have used gutter tactics to justify their anti smoking social engineering policies and to provide a suitable monument inscription.

Future generations need to be aware that their freedoms are easily eroded and the need to remain vigilant and steadfast.

Here are a few nominations----The monument and inscription could be dedicated jointly or individually to:----

Deborah Arnott, Ash Director ------ Mary Honeyball, MEP, ------ Martin Dockrall, Ash, ------ NHS Trust executives imposing smoke bans on the pretence that they are legal

Or maybe:-

Those in the pay of smokefree paid to post on internet forums , (you know who they are). ------ The compilers of phony loaded anti smoking questionnaire's, ------, The inventors of incomprehensible anti smoking statements and statistics.

Or Maybe:-

------, Sandwell Council, for prosecuting an old lady, ------ Those who discriminate against incarcerated patients and rob them of the right to smoke, those that denied smoking prisoners in the Isle of Man a smoke. --------- The list is endless:-

This monument is dedicated to the honest hard working citizens of the British Isles who have been subjected to anti smoking social engineering policy, they shall not forget the uncaring, Heartless,

------------ Over to you --------------------------------------
